9/4/2007 8:27:37 AM
The Central FFA Chapter of Raymond, had many members exhibit their Supervised Agriculture Experience projects at the Saunders County Fair in Wahoo. Members showed cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, horses, poultry, and rabbits. Stacy Wolfe showed the Champion Market Heifer and Champion Feeder calf.
Heather Novacek showed the Reserve Champion Market Beef. Josh Nelson showed the Champion Breeding Heifer and was awarded Champion Livestock Exhibitor award after winning the Round Robin contest. The Chapter met over the summer to design a float for the County Fair Parade. Their theme was “Come Sail Away with FFA”, which won first place in the FFA division. Ryan Maly pulled the float with his antique John Deere tractor. The Central FFA Alumni organized, officiated, and sponsored the Hay Hauling contests at the Saunders and Lancaster Fairs. Each fair had 25 teams participate and the stands were full of spectators. FFA members helped time and score the contests. The hay hauling event had divisions for men and women. Central FFA Alumni members also served as Superintendents at the fairs. Some of the FFA members will be entering projects at the State Fair on Labor Day Weekend. 24 members have entered 149 projects in the FFA Division of the Fair. They entered beef, swine, sheep, crops, vegetables, and flowers. Hannah Masek has refurbished an antique International tractor and will exhibit it at the fair.
