NE: Waverly Chapter Competes in Skills Contest

The FFA District Leadership Skills Events Competitions were held in Brainard on November 21st. Leadership Skills Events give FFA members a chance to compete against other chapters in speaking events. These can be team or individual events including speeches and demonstrations. Waverly chapter members who competed placed in many of the contests. Freshmen who presented the FFA Creed were John Catsinas and Jess Smith, both receiving red. Katie Zabel took first place in natural resources, and Jacy Beeson received red. The Senior Parliamentary Procedure team received second place, while the Junior Parliamentary Procedure team took first. Thomas and Patrick Faughn took first in agriculture demonstrations, Krystal Fessler received first in cooperative speaking, Hannah Sass and Ethan Reed received blue in senior public speaking, and Amanda Beeson and Alexis Spath received blue in junior public speaking. For extemporaneous speaking, Dan Bulling received blue and Alex Millege received red. Shane Hennessy received second and Andrew Filipi received fourth in job interview. Members who qualified for state in their events will compete at the Nebraska State Convention held in March.
