machinery cosignment sale
1/7/2009 8:06:14 AM
On Sunday, Jan. 11, at 9 am, the Raymond Central FFA Alumni will host its 11th annual farm machinery consignment sale on the corner of 14th and Agnew Rd. Last year gross sales were over $500,000 and almost 2000 people attended.
FFA members help park cars and sell concessions. The concession stand will be selling BBQ pork and hotdogs. This year members are even helping to clerk the sale and run bids from the 3 auction lines.
About 40 local supporters help unload and load consigned items. They spend countless hours during the 2 weeks before and the week after the sale. The Alumni charges approximately 10% to sell the farm related items. No cars or household items are accepted. Many local businesses donate toward the sale.
For information contact Les Hornung of Davey, Kevin Henrichson of Ceresco, Mark Nelson of Valparaiso, or Ryan Welton of Malmo. The sale keeps getting bigger and this year looks to be a good one. Over 300 consigners will be selling over 2000 items and bidders are often seen from surrounding states. The proceeds are used to support the FFA.
Funds are used for FFA scholarships, a banquet, conventions, leadership conferences, and fairs. This event has grown larger than its developers had ever imagined. If you have never attended, you may want to check it out.
Consignments will be taken until 5 pm Saturday, Jan. 10th.
