2/20/2009 12:21:07 PM

The members have been looking forward to an exciting spring. Recently five members of Twin River FFA Chapter have applied for the State FFA Degree – Zach Czarnick, Ethan Kershaw, Ryan Clausen, Cory Pilakowski, and Andy Jarecki. Also, Zach Czarnick received a silver rating in beef production and Ryan Clausen received a first place gold in Diversified Ag Production at District 6 proficiency reviews. Ryan will be continuing his proficiency at the state level.

Members will be participating in National FFA Week February 21-28th. We will be having a community pancake feed on the 21st. Also students will be competing in ag knowledge quizzes and finding the letters FFA and the emblem in school. Wednesday will be for teacher appreciation.

The chapter officers will be presenting personal and rural safety books and DVDs to the elementary. To conclude the historic week, students are having tractor day on the 27th, and attending Made For Excellence leadership lab in Kearney.

The students are also starting to study for District Career Development Events and District Livestock Judging.

The Twin River Natural Resource and Wildlife Management class will be hosting a “Test Your Well” night on Feb 13th. It is important that your rural water is tested annually to ensure the safety of the people in your household. The Plant Science class is conducting experiments based on the environmental factors that impact seed germination.

The Introduction to Agriculture class is developing and exploring Supervised Agricultural Experiences. Advanced Welding is preparing and constructing welding projects, as well as, awaiting a new welding facility.

The new year of 2009 is off to a great start. With many motivated members and strong community support, we look forward to the rest of the year.
