Brokaw FFA Members Compete in Sub-District Leadership Events

Twenty-three Brokaw FFA members of Clarinda recently competed in nine Career Development Event areas at the Sub-District level at Atlantic High School in Atlantic, Iowa, on Saturday, February 21.
The following members competed in the following events, with their placing in parentheses: Cassie McNees, Kaela Eggers, Tia Campbell, Lindsey Poore, and Christy Williamson in the Parliamentary Procedure event (Gold-1st, Advance); Tyler Steeve, Korbin Thomas, Scott Brockman, Cordell Turner, Nathan Harvey, Kenny Hobson, and Dakin Hutt in the Conduct of Meetings event (Gold-1st, Advance); JJ Sunderman in the Ag Sales event (Gold-2nd, Advance); Jill McCall in the Job Interview event (Gold-1st, Advance); Amanda McNees, Chantel King, and Nevada Turner in the Program of Activities contest (Gold-1st, Advance); Laura Beaver in the Radio Broadcast event (Gold-1st, Advance); and Talynn Hughes in the Public Speaking event (Bronze, Alternate). Members also participated in the Farm Business Management Test event and the Greenhand Quiz event. Placings for the Farm Business Management Test were: Austin Ascherl (Gold-1st), Dustin Sump (Gold-3rd), and Jenna Holt (Silver-4th). Placings for the Greenhand Test were: Scott Brockman (Gold-2nd), Kenny Hobson (Silver-6th), Tyler Steeve (Silver-9th), Jeremiah Haug (Silver), Cordell Turner (Bronze), Korbin Thomas (Bronze), Dakin Hutt (Bronze), and Nathan Harvey (Bronze).
On Saturday, March 7, all members that advanced in sub-district competition will compete at the Southwest District Convention in Audubon. Also at the district convention, Talynn Hughes will be presenting a speech as she runs for a district office.
Members who move on in their contest areas at the district level will compete against teams from the other five FFA districts in the state of Iowa at the State FFA Leadership Conference in Des Moines on April 16-17.
