The Shickley FFA was very active Feb. 21-28 celebrating National FFA Week, which is celebrated during the week of George Washington's birthday.
On Monday, it was shake hand's day. The week before, elementary students were given ag-related coloring pictures to color. The annual farmer/business breakfast was held on Tuesday with pancakes, egg casseroles, sausage being served to parents, business supporters, and FFA alumni members. Our chapter would like to thank those businesses and individuals who have helped us throughout the year. A special thanks for Lichti Oil for providing the cups and propane for the breakfast, Geneva Milling Company for providing the plates, Pat and Renae Kamler for the eggs and the Fillmore County WIFE Organization for the place mats for the breakfast.
On Wednesday donuts where provided by the chapter for sale, and it was also Drive your tractor to school, or dress like a city slicker day. Thursday was dress like a cowboy day and gummy worms were given to all the students.
On Friday the results of the elementary coloring contest were announced. Students K-6 were encouraged to participate in the annual FFA week coloring contests. The pictures were distributed to students and then gathered on Thursday to be judged.
Winners included: Kindergarten: 1st place: Blake Schlegal, 2nd place: Nolen O'Brien,3r d place: Aaron Mick. 1st and 2nd grade: 1st place: Zach Mosier, 2nd place: Ragan Fiala, 3rd place: Josh Swartzendruber, 3rd and 4th grade: 1st place: Megan Grote, 2nd place: Nicole Swartzendruber, 3rd place: Carley Swatzendruber. 5th and 6th grade: 1st place: Tristen Mosier 2nd place: Kristin Troyer , 3rd place: Samantha Plock .
Thanks again to all the students who participated in the coloring contest and to those who helped us make National FFA Week a big success. During the week David Hochstetler organized ticket sales for the annual jacket raffle which provides 8th grade members and first year members an opportunity to buy a chance at a free FFA jacket. The winners were Alberto Gamboa and it was announced on Friday. Congratulations Alberto.
