It’s hard to imagine spending a month to plan for one week, but that’s exactly what made FFA week a huge success for FFA members at Grand Island Northwest High School.
Throughout the week members were able to celebrate the FFA organization, serve others, and most of all have a blast. On Monday FFA members decided to blend in by sporting their best camouflage.
On Tuesday however, members definitely stood out by proudly displaying their Official Dress and proving that blue corduroy was always in style. FFA members also put into practice the FFA Motto of “living to serve” as they cooked and served “Breakfast for Lunch” to the Northwest Faculty.
On Wednesday the real fun began as Northwest FFA welcomed some exotic visitors like Callee the camel to take part in the chapter’s second annual petting zoo. Though Callie was the favorite, Northwest Students also got to meet some common farm animals, a buffalo, and a wallaby. The petting zoo provided great agricultural awareness to the Northwest student body, where most students live in urban areas.
Northwest’s celebration of FFA week came to a close on Thursday with members riding into town on their tractors putting aside the age old red vs. green debate and letting everyone know what FFA and agriculture was all about as they rolled into the parking lot. NTV News showcased the event making it even more special for the drivers.
Though FFA week took a lot of planning, the members got the chance to show off their organization to the community and to the school with huge success.
