Stuart FFA Chapter Celebrates 2009 National FFA Week “Step Up Stand Out”

The Stuart FFA Chapter was kept busy celebrating the events of National FFA Week Feb. 21-28, 2009. Throughout National FFA week, the members planned activities for each day.  
 
Monday found the Stuart FFA Chapter sending two officers, namely Jordan Kunz and Jerad Murphy to be guests on the KBRX Doghouse morning show. 
On Monday and throughout the week, students, teachers and staff had the chance to answer a daily trivia question regarding FFA and participate in agricultural product guessing games. In addition, public service announcements were broadcasted over KBRX, along with radio trivia throughout the week. 
On Tuesday, the sophomore members assisted with bingo at Parkside Manor.  Wednesday was faculty/staff appreciation day and the members brought treats for the teacher’s workroom.  On Thursday, members sported their FFA t-shirts compliments of Central Valley Ag Cooperative. 
Thursday also found Jill Peterson, Nebraska State FFA Vice-President conducting workshops with all agricultural education classes throughout the day.  The breakfast scheduled for Thursday was postponed due to the weather forecast. 
Friday found the elementary students being treated to a game of “Are You Smarter than an Ag Student?” during their lunch time.  On Friday, winners of the FFA sponsored coloring contest for Grades K-12 and faculty/staff were announced.  Winners in the K-2nd Grade division were:  1st - Alex Jarecke, 2nd – Marina Fessler, 3rd – Joslyn Hamilton; Grades 3rd – 6th:  1st – Monique Schafer, 2nd – Tessa Fox, 3rd – Mason Dexter; Jr. and Sr. High division:   1st – Shelby Paxton, 2nd – Caitlin Kunz, and 3rd – Brooke Jarman; Faculty and Staff division:  1st – Mrs. Krysl, 2nd – Mrs. Fischer, and 3rd – Mrs. Sholes.  A special thanks to the students and staff who exhibited their creative talents.   The students had an enjoyable time celebrating and promoting National FFA Week in their school and community.
