Creek Valley FFA gears up to attend State FFA

On April 1, 2009 the Creek Valley FFA Chapter will be leaving for the State FFA Convention in Lincoln, Nebraska. The State Convention begins on April 1 and ends on April 3. The convention is filled with lots of contests that over the past school year FFA members have competed in and made it to state. The Creek Valley FFA is taking five teams to the convention this year. The five teams are: Farm and Ranch Management, Nursery and Landscaping, Agronomy, Meats, and Floriculture.
The Farm and Ranch Management team consists of four members. The members are: Nels Anderson, Marshall Everitt, Ashley Schievelbein, and Tyler Cavalli. This Team went to Gordon Nebraska on February 4, 2009 and qualified for state with a third place finish.
The Nursery and Landscaping team consist of four members. The members are: Miranda Franken, Trinity Abrams, Ann Ford, and Sheana Hendrickson. This team went to Kimball, Nebraska on March 3, 2009 and qualified for state with a first place finish. Miranda Franken also won the contest by getting a first place ribbon.
The Agronomy team and Meats teams are also competing at State. The agronomy team is made up by Nels Anderson, Marshall Everitt, Lance Eastman, and Garrett Vetter. The Meats team is made up by Kristine Bond, Aspen Abrams, Aaron Ward, and Tyler Cavalli.
The Floriculture team participated in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on January 14, 2009. The team consists of four members and they are Miranda Franken, Trinity Abrams, Ashley Schievelbein, and Ann Ford. The team placed third and Miranda Franken also placed first.
Miranda Franken, Seth Oliverius, and Autumn Longo were chosen to be in the State Choir and are going to state to participate in the choir. The Creek Valley FFA Chapter was lucky enough to have four members selected to receive their State Degrees, which is the highest degree you can get in the state. The American Degree is the highest degree the FFA offers. The four members who will receive the State Degree are, Seth Oliverius, Miranda Franken, Autumn Longo, and Lance Eastman.
The Creek Valley FFA is also excited to see McKenzie Steger, who is the State President, give her retiring address on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 1:30 in the Grand Ballroom at the Cornhusker Hotel. McKenzie was chosen to be the State President at last year’s State Convention. The Creek Valley FFA Chapter would also like to thank McKenzie and all the other State Officers for all their hard work that they have done this year.
