Also six members were named as state finalists in proficiency areas. Those winning in their areas were Sarah Oltjenbruns in Ag Education, Alicia Dather in the area of Food Science, and Mickey Doerr in the area of Home and Community Development.
Nick Eckmann placed second in Diversified Agriculture, Charissa Hanzlik placed third in Beef Production and Lynndsy Hauger placed third in Floriculture.
Nine members received their state degree. They were Katie Eckmann, Kelsey Kumm, Sarah Oltjenbruns, Alicia Dather, Charissa Hanzlik, Mickey Doerr, Tyler Abbenhaus, Ben Skroch and Matt Lackas.
The chapter is making plans for their annual banquet to be held on April 26th. At the banquet they will honor their successes for the 08-09 school year, and install their new officer team.
Twenty-one members are planning to attend WLC this July. The chapter has also made arrangements to rent a forty acre field to use as a laboratory to study corn production throughout the year.
Several of the local vendors are donating seed, fertilizer, chemicals and applications to help make the plot successful.
