Hartington FFA has good year at state convention

   In the Proficiency Award area which compares the members Supervised Experience Program with everyone else’s in the State of Nebraska in specific areas, the top three from Hartington were:  Karla Pick (2nd in Agricultural Sales) Aaron Steffen (3rd   in Dairy Production Placement Zach Marsh (3rd   in Fiber/Oil Crop Production and 1st and 2nd   in Grain Production Placement); Emma Lammers (3rd  in Poultry Production)

   The Chapter received Gold Awards in Chapter Safety, Community Development and a Superior in the National Chapter Award Program. 

   The Chapter also received the Premier Chapter Award for the fourth year in a row.  The Chapter has never received this award since its initial start in 1970 until three years ago.

   The Chapter also received a Gold Merit award and a $50.00 gift certificate in the Million Can Challenge.

   Those receiving the State FFA Degree which is the highest degree you can receive in the state were: Katelyn Dendinger, Wes Fleming, Danny Goeden, Josh Heikes, Holly Kneifl, Emma Lammers, Megan Lammers, Tucker Lammers, Tyler Meirose, Miles Metheny, Cady Millage, Brandon Pedersen, Karla Pick, Kelsy Pick, Luke Stevens, Kelby Sudbeck, Matthew Sudbeck, Rhonda Sudbeck, Jesse Thoene, and Phil Wiebelhaus. 
This is the second largest group that has received their degree from one Chapter since 1928.  Karla Pick was a finalist for the State Star in Production(top 12) and Tucker Lammers was a finalist for the State Star Star in Placement (top 9).

   The Jr. Parliamentary team of Andy Moser, Mark Arens, Sheila Wiebelhaus, Aaron Steffen, Melissa Thoene, Jason Wintz and Neil Kramer received a top Silver.

   In the Jr. Public Speaking competition, Casey Steiner received 5th Gold, Tyler Meirose in Extemporaneous received silver, Emma Lammers in Senior Public received a silver and the Agricultural Demonstration team of Katelyn Dendinger and Karla Pick received a 5th Gold.

   In the Career Development Events (CDE Contests) the following results are:
-Ag Mechanics - Individually: Brandon Pedersen received 7th place in Natural Resource systems
-Agronomy – Team (27th out of 101), Individually:  Tyler Meirose was 16th and Mason Buschelman was 28th out of 228 individuals
-Floriculture Team – 26th  Team, Individually:  Megan Lammers and Megan Kneifl tied for 41st  out of 152 individuals
-Food Science Team – (13th  out 25 teams), Individually:  Alex Bottolfsen (16th) out of 100 individuals.
-Senior Livestock Judging Team (23rd out of 64 Teams); Individually:  Kelby Sudbeck (22nd), Luke Stevens (42nd), and Phil Wiebelhaus (53rd out of 274 individuals.
-Meat Identification Team (14th out of 103 Teams)  Individually:  Cady Millage (15th), Matthew Sudbeck (28th), and Mitchell Duhacek (43rd) out of 412 individuals.
-Natural Resource Team (8th out of 79 teams)  Individually:  Tyler Meirose (3rd), David Burbach (12th), Tanner Hagge (21st) out of 316 individuals.

   Also receiving the Honorary State FFA Degree was Supt. Dr. Scott Swisher of Hartington Public Schools.
