Wheeler Central FFA attends State Convention

   The Wheeler Central FFA members attended the 81st State FFA Convention on April 1-3 2008. There were 32 students, in grades 7 – 12, that attended the convention. Students that attended the convention were: Katie Swett, Krystal Schindler, Katarina Race, Monte Snider, Travis Smith, Tanner Olson, Katie Thunker, Jamie Havel, Danielle Nichols, Kelsey Weber, Trevor Kahl, Raymond Bernt, Zac Thramer, Lane Day, Sydney Gehl, Hilary Kasperbaur, Jake Kasselder, Joni Qualm, Kent Snider, Chantz Shermer, Jentry Qualm, Kylee Weber, Nicole Martensen, Tyler Schindler, Morgan Pelster, Raemond Seamen, Andrea Pelster, Bailey Day, Cassi Thunker, Nathan Smith, Nicole Thramer, Jordan Wietkzi. Also attending State Convention was our advisor Mrs. Guggenmos. Greg Gehl, Trina Pelster and Cara Snider volunteered as sponsors for the group.
   The Agriscience team received a red. Kylee Weber and Tyler Schindler received reds and the other two members of the team were Jentry Qualm and Nicole Martensen. Members of the Meats Judging Team were Raymond Bernt, Chantz Shermer, Zac Thramer, and Tanner Olson. Krystal Schindler received a white in Nursery and Landscaping.
   Joni Qualm, Lane Day and Hilary Kasperbaur were also a part of the Nursery and Landscaping team. The Junior Livestock team received a white. Sydney Gehl individually received a purple. Other members of the team were Kent Snider, Kylee Weber and Tyler Schindler. Members that competed in the Senior Livestock judging contest were Monte Snider, Katie Swett, Danielle Nichols and Trevor Kahl.
   The Junior Parliamentary Procedure Team received silver and team members were Kylee Weber, Sydney Gehl, Joni Qualm, Lane Day, Hilary Kasperbaur, Jake Kasselder and Jentry Qualm. The Senior Parliamentary Procedure team received a bronze and team members were Katie Swett, Katarina Race, Monte Snider, Danielle Nichols, Katie Thunker, and Jamie Havel.
   Livestock Management team received tenth and team members were Katie Thunker, Sydney Gehl, Jamie Havel, Raymond Bernt, Travis Smith and Trevor Kahl. Krystal Schindler sang in the State Choir. Kelsey Weber attended the delegate meeting and took notes.
   The seniors that received their State FFA Degrees were Katie Swett, Katarina Race, Krystal Schindler, Monte Snider and Travis Smith. Joni Qualm received 1st with her Equine Science Entrepreneurship Proficiency and will be going to National FFA Convention! Students also attended Leadership workshop and other sections while at State Convention.
   Our Chapter feels very honored to be able to take the number of students to State Convention. We would also like to extend a big Thank you to our sponsors for taking time out of their busy schedules to help make the State Convention a success.
   We would also like to thank our Advisor, Mrs. Guggenmos, for helping prepare our FFA Chapter for competition in a wide variety of contests.
