News Detail
St. Paul FFA still going strong
4/17/2009 9:04:28 AM

The St. Paul FFA chapter consists of 68 members this year.  Our 2008-2009 officer team consists of Beth Wroblewski-President, Krista Scheer-Vice President, Kira Putscher-Secretary, Crysta Naylor-Reporter, Kenny Stone-Treasurer, Blake Thomsen-Sentinel, Kelly McCarty-Parliamentarian, Brandon Starkey-Master Chief, and Andrew Masat-Master of Technology.

Twenty-three members qualified for the State FFA convention held April 1st through April 3rd.  The contests that qualified for state consisted of Livestock Management(Received 1st), Natural Resources, Agronomy, Welding, Job Interview, and Agriscience.

The chapter holds many fundraisers.  Some of which include: a pancake feed at GCA Days and a hired-hand auction.

Our chapter takes pride in FFA week.  This year we held a pancake breakfast for the students and staff of our school.  Also, we held a petting zoo for the elementary students and taught them about the animals, wore our official dress, and we also wore our FFA t-shirts.

During the summer our chapter goes on what we call the Nebraska Tour.  Each year we go to a different part of Nebraska and visit Agricultural related businesses.  While there, we learn valuable information on the Ag industry and become closer as a chapter.

Every year before school begins, our chapter officers take the incoming 7th graders to Timberlake.  While there, we take them swimming, play leadership games, go canoeing, and go down waterslides.  We teach them about FFA and what it will be like in Junior High.

Along with participating in contests and chapter activities, member also help give back to the community.  Every year our chapter helps pick up trash at the end of Husker Harvest Days.  Another routine trash pick up our chapter does is a two mile stretch of highway North of St. Paul.  We also pick-up trash on the football field after every home game.

The St. Paul FFA has been going strong for many years and hopes to keep going strong for many more years to come.
