While at the State Leadership Conference, Tyler Slough and Michael Ribbey attended the delegate session, where they voted on important constitutional amendments and the 2009-2010 State FFA Officer Team. The group also went on a tour of Pioneer Hybrid International. This was a great opportunity for the students to see the research that is being done to provide farmers with new corn hybrids.
Students also attended the 1st General Session. While at this session, the South Page FFA Chapter was recognized with the Ag Ambassador award. The Ag Ambassador award is given to chapters that raise money for the Iowa FFA Foundation.
The Iowa Foundation uses the money to assist agricultural education organizations in accomplishing their missions. The students also had the opportunity to hear Josh Sundquist speak at the 1st General Session. Sundquist is a Paralympics ski racer. At age nine, he was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer and had his left leg amputated. Sundquist has spoken at schools, Fortune 500 companies and at the White House sharing his inspirational message.
The members attended a career fair that allowed them to visit with colleges and agricultural businesses. The students also took advantage of looking at the chapter displays and chapter scrapbooks from around the state to see what they could bring back and use to better their chapter.
Jesse Merriett and Jewellie Allbee were chaperones for the trip
