Missouri Weekly Hay Summary - Week ending 1/09/2009
Decent weather allowed truckers to get back to catching up on the small
backlog of deliveries due to weather and holiday interruptions. Other than
having to deal with mud, winter hasn?t been extremely difficult on man or
beast so far. Due to the fact much of winter has not had any snow cover or
ice and there hasn?t been any prolonged periods of sub zero temperatures a
fair amount of farmers are still letting stock piled fescue make up the major
part of feeding rations. Hay supply is moderate to heavy, demand moderate to
light and prices steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay
hotline available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a
directory, call 1-800-877-4HAY (4429) or visit http://www.mda.mo.gov/pdf/MOHayDirectory.pdf (All prices f.o.b. and per ton
